7 tips on how to save energy in the kitchen

It goes without saying that the bill amounts are flying. Now we all see (and suffer) it!

We make you 7 suggestions on how to save energy in your kitchen. Let us know if you like these tips and if you can put them into practice! And share with us what you do to spend less energy, as in these times, never so precious!

Here are our 7 tips:

1) When cooking, cover the pots with lids: this will speed up the cooking process and reduce the time of use of energy. You can save money by cooking pasta too! How?

  1. Boil the water
  2. Throw in the pasta
  3. Wait for the water to boil again
  4. Cover the pot with the lid
  5. Turn off the heat
  6. Wait for the pasta to cook 1 minute longer than the time indicated on the package.

2) Turn off the oven before cooking the dish you are preparing. The oven stays hot for a long time, so turning it off first will save a lot of electricity and the dish will cook anyway! Ps. This rule is not applicable for delicate sweets 

3) Don’t put hot food in the fridge. Cooling it like this takes a lot of energy.

4) Raise the temperature of your fridge by 1 degree. You will save a little and your products will remain fresh as well.

5) Do not use the microwave to defrost food. Try planning your menu in advance and take the necessary items out of the freezer one night before cooking them.

6) Do not use the dishwasher half full. It is one of the appliances that “eats” the most energy. Try to optimize its use: by operating it 5 (instead of 6-7) times a week, you will save almost € 10 per month (which is € 120 per year!).

7) Put in the kettle only the amount of water you need, or use the thermos to reduce the times the water needs to be boiled.

There is no need to introduce all these changes at once. The logic of small steps is the most effective when it comes to big changes. Learning to live the essential is! And so let’s give ourselves some time, let’s put in some effort and … let’s become essential!
