Let's take care of the environment!
I would like! Good purposes to get some good environmental practices back
We all have a common home: the Earth. Thus, it is up to each of us to take care of it, for our own welfare and for the generations that will come after us. Ecology is not only about forests, seas, and wildlife, but also whole humanity. Therefore, comes the question: what can I do in front of an increasingly serious panorama of environment’s destruction?
Here are the proposals of some resolutions to resume good environmental practices. A resolution, however, what is it? A proposition of something to do, an intention, an initiative. Big projects may seem unattainable from a personal point of view. However, we can think of concrete things to do in the short, medium and long term. “To do”, “to obtain”, “to realize”, “to reach” are some verbs that can help us to fulfill good environmental purposes.
It is also important to respect our own abilities because we are also part of the ecological system. If you take one step at a time, with simple gestures that then become daily actions, you are already in the way to take and take back good environmental practices.
Against waste
A good environmental purpose is to do your part against the culture of waste and throwaways. The planet and its resources are limited, and a consumer culture is a powerful agent of destruction of the only environment in which we live. From this, there are some simple habits that one can take, like:
- Proper separation of garbage for recycling;
- when shopping, change the reusable plastic bags for reusable cloth bags;
- reduce the consumption of plastic;
- think before a purchase, and don’t buy something for the simple desire to buy it;
- rethink one’s diet in order to consume more local and seasonal products, made with ethical methods;
- Turn off the lights when there is no one in the room;
- if possible, use less cars and more bicycles and public transport (or walk more).
One may think, however, that a personal attitude will not have a great ecological impact. But good examples, when seen, inspire others to do so. Small actions can lead to big changes. Would you like to try too?
