Between heaven and earth: the birds by Made in Loppiano in solidarity with Ukraine!
It has been a month since the war in Ukraine began. It cannot be denied that dismay is the feeling we perceive both in ourselves and in the people who are closest to us. We wanted to find the word that could answer this dismay: resilience. It is obvious that after the first shock comes the desire to do something … anything to mediate the damage of the decisions of those who use their power in an unfair and violent way.
What have we done in Loppiano to express our solidarity with the victims of violence in Ukraine?
Fabrics: at the beginning of March Fantasy Loppiano brought out some rolls of fabrics suitable for warm blankets (fleece, microfiber and the like). We cut and sewed 170 baby blankets. All were delivered to one of the local collection points for Ukraine.
Accommodation: Loppiano has made some apartments available to host Ukrainian refugees. They have not yet arrived, we are completing all the bureaucratic steps so that they can be accommodated as soon as possible.
Games and medicines: in a few days we organized a collection of medicines, games and various materials for the school that we donated to 44 orphaned children who arrived in Trzcianka (the citadel of the Focolare Movement in Poland).
March for Peace: the citadel of Loppiano was one of the protagonists of the “March for Peace” organized by 4 municipalities of the Tuscany Region and held on Sunday 6 March.
Here is a rundown of the photos:
There is also a personal commitment of each of us in large or small initiatives, all with one purpose: to give concrete support and show solidarity to those who have lost everything.
But we want to do even more!
Between heaven and earth: the birds (and not only) of Made in Loppiano in solidarity with Ukraine through two actions:
1) 50% of the proceeds obtained from the sale of the works of “la Bottega di Ciro” created by Roberto Cipollone will be paid into the current account of Caritas which supports aid projects for Ukraine. Discover the works by clicking here (the link is updated daily).
2) For each Centro Ave Ceramica Colomba sold through Made in Loppiano, we will pay € 3 in favor of the Ukraine emergency, again into the Caritas current account.
This ours (and therefore yours too) is challenging to stay between heaven and earth, we know. But together we can do it!
