Gen Rosso was born in 1966 in Loppiano, a small town in the Tuscan hills near Florence: 850 inhabitants from 65 countries of the world, the center of a multicultural coexistence founded on the life of Christian values. Because of this originality, since its birth Loppiano has been a strong attraction for thousands of people, who came from all over the world to visit it.
And it was precisely to welcome the many visitors that at Christmas 1966, Chiara Lubich (UNESCO Peace Education Award) wanted to give the young people of the citadel a guitar and a red drum set. Hence the name of the group: Gen Rosso, where GEN stands for GEnerazione Nuova and RED is precisely the color of the first drum kit. The intention was to communicate, through music, messages of universal peace and brotherhood and thus contribute to the realization of a more united world.
These were the years of youth protest, pacifism, and the beat generation, and the name GEN fit wonderfully into the wave of novelty that characterized that period.
Gen Rosso’s original activity flows from its artistic-cultural background, the internationality of its members, and the personal commitment of each to implement, in the context of daily life, the values for which they are ambassadors.
A few instruments, a couple of amplifiers and a lot of enthusiasm…. What characterizes it even today.
CONCERT LIFE
Gen Rosso’s Concert Life, through a new pop/rock sound and impactful visuals is a true celebration to life with a Leitmotif that characterizes the whole concert: Love as the DNA of every person.
The Life Concert aims to get down to the heart of current issues. It ranges from the culture of giving to curb poverty, to ecology, to sustain harmony between humanity and nature; it gradually reaches the proposal of sharing for peaceful acceptance and coexistence among individuals and between peoples.
Concert Life can take place in outdoor and indoor spaces: Sports arenas, Squares, Arenas, Theaters, Gyms, etc., adapting to special environments and situations as well.
ARTISTIC/EDUCATIONAL PROJECT WITH CONCERT LIFE
Based on more than 15 years’ experience in the field of “Art and Education,” Gen Rosso is able to orient and involve in Concert Life, up to 150 young people.
Within just 3 days they are properly prepared to take the stage alongside Gen Rosso, thus becoming protagonists and multipliers of urgent messages: Strong without Violence to say ‘No’ to the culture of bullying and violence; ActUnIted / One X the Other, for a strengthening of self-esteem and basic motivation to live; Hands 4 Peace, for a shift from tolerance to integration, dialogue, etc.
GEN ROSSO MUSIC & ARTS VILLAGE
Course for a sharing of Gen Rosso’s artistic and educational life experience. It is directed to young people already in, or in the process of entering, the arts field at a professional level.
The Village is run by Gen Rosso tutors, supported by teachers of recognized artistic ability and experience. The program includes in-depth study of the roots of group life, themes and practical workshops of the various ‘performing arts’ – Music, Sound&Lights, Theater, Dance, Singing etc.
The Village, with a duration of 7-10 days, takes place in the International Citadel of Loppiano (Figline and Incisa Valdarno – Florence).
WORKSHOPS WITH GEN RED
These are workshops, lasting one or more days, designed and led by Gen Rosso artists in the various performing arts disciplines: Hip-Hop Dance, Broadway Dance, Party Dance, Percussion and Choral Singing.
The workshop is suitable to meet the numerous requests from educational institutions, associations, parishes, etc. that want to offer, especially to young people, opportunities for reflection, discovery or growth of their artistic talents.
FACE TO FACE (F2F)
This is the formula designed to meet Gen Rosso directly in the back-stage of daily life in an alternation of songs, videos and experiences in a very direct and familiar character in halls/auditoriums with limited attendance.
GEN ROSSO – ONE STAGE
Gen Rosso’s vast network of artists, expanded through the Villages, enables the group to operate simultaneously in different countries or cities, making the world one stage: One Stage indeed.
Responding to requests, some Gen Rosso tutors travel to the various cities and, through art workshops, guide groups of young people in the preparation and realization of a performance, in which they themselves will be the protagonists.
The course, lasting one or more days, is that of a regular Gen Rosso workshop, which includes creative paths of music, singing, dance, body percussion, theater, set design, video making, and documentation.
On the stage of the final performance, open to the public, the work done in the various workshops will be shown.
